Test plan

Having established the guidelines for the work in the PQAP for both the development and the test teams, the latter concentrates on and coordinates testing work in accordance with the test plan.

The test plan is drawn up following the guidelines set out in the PQAP to define the different types of test in line required given the nature of the project.

The test plan thus forms a part of the design work carried out in the initial stages of the project, where the system requirements provide key planning information.

The types of tests and methodologies forming part of the test plan are described below:

  • Types of test – The test plan may consist of numerous different types of test. At Kynetia we approach test plan design taking a wide range into account.
  • Test analysis – Analysis is the key stage to establish a sound test plan.
  • Test design – Like the analysis stage, the design of tests represents a significant part of the work. The test cases are designed and implemented in this phase.
  • Execution of tests – A strong test plan must contain test cases that are precise, economical, repeatable, adequate and traceable, if it is to be correctly carried out.
  • Incident record and follow-up – The weaknesses identified in the course of tests and reviews are filed together in a joint archive, which is created and configured taking into account the specific needs of each project. This creates a record of incidents and related information for subsequent review.
